Even though cats don’t like water, tigers like water and can swim. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why do tigers love and swim in the water?

The reason tigers like water and can swim is because they are raised to love water and use it to cool off. Tigers need to be strong swimmers to catch prey in the jungle.

3. Tigers are apex predators!

Did you know tigers are apex predators?

They might be smaller than other animals like rhinos or hippos but tigers are apex (animals that are not eaten) predators. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why are tigers apex predators?

The reason why tigers are apex animals is because of their incredible strength, which is why they can overcome bigger animals.

Even though many wild cats are solitary(live and hunt alone), tigers are the most solitary cats in the world. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why are tigers the most solitary big cats in the world?

The reason why lions are the most social big cats in the world is because just like other cats they don’t share but will meet other tigers for mating.

5. Tigers sleep for 18-20 hours a day.

Did you know that tigers sleep for 18-20 hours a day?

Even though they kill and eat lots of animals, they sleep longer than any animal in the world apart from the lion. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why do tigers sleep for 18-20 hours a day?

Tigers sleep for up to 18-20 hours a day because they need to get new energy which is required to make kills, for stalking and sprinting.

6. Tigers eat whatever is available.

Did you know that tigers eat whatever is available?

Just like lions, tigers eat whatever is available. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why do tigers eat whatever is available?

The reason why tigers eat whatever is available is because they need food for strength and health. For example, if they don’t have a variety of prey available, they will eat carrion instead and if they don’t have any food, they’ll eat rodents and insects.

7. Tigers can go for days without eating!

Did you know that tigers can go for days without eating?

Even though many cat eat a lot, tigers can go for days without eating. Isn’t that amazing? But I think the tiger is hungry.

Now, why can tiger go for days without eating?

The reason why tigers can go for days without eating is because of the food they eat. Tigers prefer large prey for food and when they eat they don’t get hungry for some days. But another reason is if there is no prey at all.

8. Tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn!

Did you know that tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn?

Even though cat urine smell terrible, tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn. Isn’t that amazing? However, don’t be tempted. It is a tiger way of marking their territory.

Now, why does tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn?

The reason why tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn is because there is a chemical in their urine called 2-AP(an aroma compound and flavor that give things the scent of fresh or baked foods).

9. Tiger saliva can heal wounds!

Did you know that tiger saliva can heal wounds?

Even though most animal saliva is normal, tiger saliva can heal wounds. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why can tiger saliva heal wounds?

The main reason why tiger saliva is can heal wounds is because it is an antiseptic(preventing the growth of disease-causing microorganisms.) Tigers use their saliva to heal injuries.

10. Tigers can mimic the sound of other animals.

Did you know that tigers can mimic the sound of other animals?

Even though most wild cats make regular sounds, but tigers can mimic the sound of other animals. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, why can tigers mimic the sound of other animals?

The reason why tigers can mimic the sound of other animals is because they need it to create traps for their prey.
