8 reasons why the puma rocks
In this post, I will be showing you 8 reasons why the puma rocks.
1. The puma’s closest relatives are the cheetah and jaguarundi!
Did you know pumas are apex predators?
Even though they are smaller than deer, pumas are apex(animals that are not eaten) predators. Isn’t that amazing?
Now, why are pumas apex predators?
The reason why pumas are apex predators is because of their incredible strength and speed which helps them overcome bigger animals.
5. Pumas can’t roar.
Even though lions and tigers can roar, pumas can’t roar. Isn’t that amazing? The reason why is that as a part of the small cat family, they have solid hyoids(small U shaped solitary bone at the neck) and big cats have flexible cartridge which can move to make the big cats roar but since the puma isn’t part of the big cat family, it has solid hyoids which prevents it from roaring. Even though some animals can’t live in some habitats, pumas can adapt to many habitats. Isn’t that amazing? The reason is that pumas eat anything and have the ability to thrive in harsh and hot conditions. Even though some cats have wide populations, pumas have the largest geographic range of any land mammal of the Western Hemisphere! Isn’t that amazing? The reason is that the puma can adapt to a number of habitats so it can be found in many places of the Western Hemisphere. Even though they are big and heavy, pumas can climb. Isn’t that amazing? The reason why is that they have retractable claws(claws that can be moved in and out) and have the strength to pull themselves up a tree. Check out my other posts.Did you know that pumas can’t roar?
