In this post, the topic is 👊Python VS Anaconda: Who would win in a fight⚔️

Python VS Anaconda

We’ve seen some pretty interesting battles so far, but this time we’ve got 2 newcomers into the series: the mighty Python and the fearsome Anaconda. Let’s see how these constrictors stack up in a battle of serpentine supremacy!

Comparing Pythons and Anacondas

 PythonAnaconda
SizeLength: 2-32.8 feet, Weight: 0.2-158 kgLength: 6-30 feet, Weight: 69-250 kg
Speed1.6 km/h (1 mph) on land; no record for swimming speed8 km/h (5 mph) on land; 16 km/h (10 mph) underwater
Constriction power14 PSI90 PSI
DefensesGreat size, camoflauge and constrictionGreat size, camoflauge and constriction
Offensive capabilitiesConstriction, powerful biteConstriction, powerful bite
Predatory behaviorSoitary, ambush predator, constrictorSoitary, ambush predator, constrictor
SensesGreat preception of odors, thermal vision, ability to hear low frequencies.Great preception of odors, thermal vision, can sense vibrations

Python VS Anaconda: Size🧍‍♂️

Anacondas are smaller but heavier.
Source: Google

Pythons are typically larger in terms of length, reaching up to 32.8 feet but their weight is just 158 kilograms, which will be a huge disadvantage. I’ll explain what I mean later. Anyways, the anaconda falls short in length, reaching 30 feet, but in terms of weight, it’s a whole different ballgame as he reaches 250 kilograms. Now you’d think this round is a tie, but like I said the python has a weight disadvantage which I said I’d talk about later. So because of this,

The heavyweight anaconda takes the first round.

Python VS Anaconda: Speed🏃‍♂️

We can’t say who’s faster in the water, but on land, the python is a lot slower.
Source: Google

Anacondas reach 8 kmh/5 mph on land and 16 kmh/10 mph in the water. However, the python reaches 1.6 kmh/1 mph on land, and while we know they can swim pretty quickly, their speed in water has never actually been tested before, so we may asume that anacondas are faster. But in order to make this fair, we’ll give the python the benefit of the doubt, meaning

This is a tie.

Python VS Anaconda: Constriction strength

Pythons are weaker than anacondas in this term.
Source:Google

Now pythons have a constriction strength of 97 kPa/14 PSI while the anaconda’s is 620 kPa/90 PSI. This would be a win clearly. But remember what I said I’d talk about? Well, you see, the weight of the snake will determine the amount of force applied on a body. It’s the same with dumbells. The less weight it has, the lesser force you’ll need to lift it. The more weight it has, the more force you’ll need to lift it. This simple theory is exactly what determines the strength of their constriction. The less you weigh, the less force you can apply on a body. The more you weigh, the more force you can apply on a body. So..

The anaconda takes this round, no problem.

Python VS Anaconda: Defenses🛡️

They have similar defenses.
Source: Google

Now this will be a quick round, because the defenses of both the python and anaconda are: great size, camoflauge and constriction. So…

This round is a tie.

Python VS Anaconda: Offensive capabilities🗡️

They have similar offensive capabilities.
Source: Google

This round will also be a quick one, due to the fact that their only offensive capabilities are their constriction and powerful bites. So…

This round is also a tie.

Python VS Anaconda: Predatory behavior🍖

They are similar in this term.
Source: Google

They are both solitary, they are ambush hunters and they are the constricting type of snake. Once again…

This round is a tie(I’m starting to get sick of this).

Python VS Anaconda: Senses👁️

They have senses that are different but have the same purpose.
Source: Google

These two have superhero senses and a special feature helps them smell odors better. Both pythons and anacondas have a Jacobson’s organ, a patch of sensory cells in the nasal passage that detects moisture-born odors. They have thermal vision due to their pit organs, a membrane that senses the radiation of the warm bodies in the vicinity. They do have their differences though. Pythons hear low frequencies, while anacondas sense vibrations from the creatures around them. So, once again,

This round is a tie.

Python VS Anaconda: Who would win in a fight⚔️

A killer whale would win in a battle.
Source: Google

Now it all comes down to this. With a score of 7 – 5, the winner of this battle is the anaconda.

Their larger size, superior strength, speed, and great senses give them a clear advantage over the python. So the anaconda won this battle, but that doesn’t mean it’s untouchable. Next up, the anaconda will take on another Amazon aggressor, the jaguar. We’ll see who win next time.
